CVVC structures
Speech is created by the free variation of the pronunciation of vowels (V) and consonants (C) in succession. Language determines the order in which these two types of speech sounds follow each other in the sequence when we say words, and sentences. In Hungarian CV and VC speech sound connection types are the most common. In addition, there are VV and CC connections, or multiples thereof. All of these sound connection types can be examined in pronounced Hungarian sample words here. We display the speech sounds in the word with transcription symbols, the waveform of the word (as a function of sound pressure in time), the frequency structure in time (spectrogram) where we can see, among others, the formant shapes and finally the internal intensity changes inside the word. The sample word can also be listened to.
